And there is literally no mess at all. Not a single plate, knife, or fork was used in this recipe.

I came across this recipe online and thought it would be a fantastic idea for breakfast.

But all I could find were egg and ham pockets wrapped pastry. Well, that is far too time-consuming to prepare.

I’m sure you’ll agree when I say we all want things to be simple in the morning.

Especially when our kids are hungry, right?

I went to my local supermarket looking for options to make this recipe super fast and came across a flatbread packet.

I thought that’s perfect! Flatbread is super thin and should crisp up nicely in my air fryer.

And I must say I was delighted with the results. It literally took me 2 minutes to prepare and 12 minutes to cook in my air fryer.

And my kids absolutely loved them, so much so that they have told me I have to make them more often for breakfast. “Is that so”…lol.

How to Make Cheesy Air Fryer Ham and Egg Pockets?

Assembling the pockets is super simple and super fast.

All you need is:

  • Ham (I’ll be using honey ham)
  • Egg
  • Cheese (Pre-Packed Shredded)
  • Flatbread/Tortillas
  • Toothpicks

Firstly, we need to preheat the air fryer to 180°C or 350°F. It’s crucial to make sure our air fryer is nice and hot before adding the pockets, so they cook evenly and at the proper temperature and time.

Layout your flatbread and place 2 pieces of your favorite ham on top, making sure to slightly overlap the ham.

Spread a small ring of shredded cheese around the ham to create a well.

Crack 1 egg and place it into the center of the well. Don’t worry, it won’t leak out. The cheese will hold everything in place.

Finally, sprinkle a small amount of shredded cheese over the egg’s top to seal it in.

From the bottom of the flatbread, carefully fold over. Take the top of the flatbread and fold it over so it partly covers the bottom.

Take one side and begin folding into a parcel.

Place a couple of toothpicks into the folded sides, so the pockets don’t come apart in the air fryer.

Fold the opposite side and again place a couple of tooth pics into the side.

Your ham and egg pockets should look like a neat little package.

Place your hot pockets into your air fryer flat side down for 11-13 minutes.

Important note: I cooked my air fryer ham and egg pockets in my Phillips XXL, so my cooking times are based on this model air fryer.

Results can vary depending on your air fryer.

If you are struggling to get the egg to set, I have a little tip.

Using a skewer, take a peek under the centerfold to see if the egg isn’t runny.

If the egg isn’t set, add another 1 or 2 minutes.

Allowing your pockets to cool for 2 minutes is another great way to help the egg set.

Can Ham and Egg Pockets be Frozen?

Yes, they certainly can. But like anything, it’s never as nice when compared to being fresh.

For a test, I froze some extra ham and egg pockets for 3 days to try the best reheating method.

And putting them back in the air fryer worked the best.

They maintained their crispiness when compared to using my microwave oven.

I set my air fryer to 10 minutes to the frozen setting at 180C/360F, and they tasted great.

And surprisingly, they didn’t burn at all.

When I used the microwave, they came out a little soft and rubbery.

I set my microwave onto the frozen/reheat setting for 3 minutes with a paper towel underneath.

But at the end of the day, if you’re looking for a quick protein-packed breakfast, it is a great idea to make some extra pockets for those days when you’re in a morning rush.

Ham and Egg Pockets are so Versatile.

I experimented with this recipe before bringing it to you. And I was rather pleased with how versatile it actually is.

Dicing some mushroom, onion, and capsicum boosted the flavors beautifully.

Pre-cooked bacon, Christmas ham, or salami is also another great option.

It works with most of your favorite cheeses as well.

There are some crazy possibilities.

If you gave my recipe a go, I would love to hear what ingredients you might have experimented with, so I can try it myself.

2 minutes to assemble and 12 minutes to cook. And better yet you can add anything that you love to your pockets. Try salami, bacon, or Christmas ham, add spinach, olives, mushrooms, onion or even sun dried tomatoes.
You have endless possibilites!
Just try not to go overboard with your fillings otherwise it can be tricky to wrap and will take more time to cook the egg properly. Treat my cheesy ham and egg pockets as a base only.
