Simple Air Fryer Chocolate Chip Banana Bread

Sharing is caring!

When I discovered that you can bake in an air fryer, I had to put it to the test with my chocolate chip banana bread.

And I was thrilled with how it turned out. What is even better; it is relatively safe for my kids to use for baking. I mean in the sense that they do not have to put a cake mix into a hot oven.

Chocolate Chip Banana Bread

My chocolate chip banana bread makes for an excellent snack for kids’ lunchboxes; something quick for breakfast or having a piece with morning or afternoon tea is ideal.

How do you make Chocolate Chip Banana Bread in the Air Fryer?

Just like my Weber Q banana and walnut bread, this recipe is quite simple and straightforward to make.

I use the Philips Air Fryer XXL and the Philips Air Fryer XXL Baking Master Kit to make this recipe.

It’s a little weird as the tin is square, and usually, bread gets baked in a loaf tin, but who said you couldn’t have a square bread loaf.

What ingredients do you need to make this recipe?

For this recipe, you will need the following:

  • Overripe bananas
  • Milk chocolate chips, but you can use dark or white if you like. Even a mixture of all three would work. Have extra for on top.
  • All-purpose flour
  • Self-raising flour
  • Brown sugar
  • Eggs at room temperature
  • Butter and extra to baste the tin
  • Ground Cinnamon
  • Whole Milk

Step-by-step method

Firstly lightly whisk your eggs and put them aside. Then in the microwave or on a stovetop, melt the butter needed for the recipe, set it aside to cool.

Melt some extra butter and baste the baking pan. Doing this will allow the banana and chocolate chip bread to slide out of the baking pan with ease.

Mash your bananas with a folk; you want them lumpy for the texture. You can use a potato masher if you prefer; it works just as well.
Do not puree them; it will create too much liquid for the recipe.

In a medium or large mixing bowl, sift the flours and cinnamon. Add the brown sugar and mix, making sure you break up any lumps from the sugar.

Next, add your milk, whisked eggs, mashed bananas, melted butter, and chocolate chips.
Mix until just combined, do not over mix.

Pour the batter into the baking pan and spread it out evenly.  And sprinkle some extra chocolate chips on top.  Or bake it without them on top

Place the baking pan in the air fryer and set it to the bake mode. Set the temperature to 150° C or 302° F for 40 to 45 minutes.
Or, if you do not mind a little extra wait time, set it to 145° C or 284° F.

When ready, take the pan out of the air fryer and put it on a cooling rack to cool for about 5 minutes.
Then place the rack on top of the pan and turn it upside down to remove the banana bread. It should just slide out.
Once out, turn it up the right way.

If you are using the same pan as me, make sure you remove the handle first before taking the bread out of the pan.

Tips for Baking Banana Bread in the Air Fryer.

As different air fryers vary, your cook time can vary also. So be sure to check your banana bread by putting a toothpick into the middle. If it comes out clean, it ready.

If it comes out with some mixture on it, it will need more time.

You do not need to preheat the air fryer, but do this for about 5 minutes if you want to preheat.
