Honey Gravy

Now I can’t take the credit for this recipe. My father-in-law taught me this recipe, and it is now the only gravy I mainly use on all our roasts meats.
And even guests who come for a roast dinner always ask if I am making my gravy.

What meats can you use honey gravy on?

It comes down to preference, really, but this goes well with lamb, chicken, pork and beef.
If you eat turkey, duck, or fish, it is worth trying the gravy with them.

What are the critical ingredients of honey gravy?

Other than the gravy base. There are two key ingredients which are Honey and Worcestershire sauce.
These two ingredients offset each other, giving a sweet and savoury taste to the gravy without one overpowering the other.

How to make honey gravy for roast meats.

This recipe is super quick and so easy to make that once you make it a few times, you will know it off the top of your head.

Honey Gravy

Ingredients
To make honey gravy for your roast meats or even steak, you are going to need the following:

  • Water
  • Powdered Gravy
  • Corn Flour
  • Honey
  • Worcestershire sauce

Method
In a small or medium-sized saucepan, add the water, cornflour and gravy powder. I use the gravox traditional gravy 30gm pk, but you can use the tined gravy if you usually get it.

Using a balloon whisk, mix everything until all the gravy and cornflour has dissolved.

Place the saucepan over medium heat and continue to stir until the gravy starts to boil.

Remove from the heat and add the honey and worcestershire sauce and stir.

Place the saucepan back on the stove and turn the heat down to low. Continue to stir until the gravy starts to thicken and darken in colour.

Adjustments
You can adjust the amount of honey and worcestershire sauce to taste.
Also, depending on the thickness you would like the gravy to be, you can also adjust the amount of cornflour to use.
